As we continue planning for the 20th Festival, we are thrilled to introduce Tennille Burt, our newly appointed Business Development Manager. Following a national recruitment drive, Tennille, who has relocated from Sydney for the role, will provide strategic support to valued partners and oversee business development on behalf of the Festival to facilitate future growth for the 2016 event and beyond.
Tennille brings over twenty years’ experience to the Festival including five years as Group Sales Manager at News Corp Australia and, more recently, as Commercial Director for Sister Communications & We Magazines, a content agency that specialises in marketing to women. Her list of accolades includes: Salesperson of The Year, News Limited 2013; Most Creative Campaign, News Limited 2012; and Sales Person of the Year, Time Inc Magazines 2005 and 2006.
Tennille kindly enlightened us about her love for Melbourne and why she is she delighted to join the Festival team for the implementation of such a prominent year.
Relocating to Melbourne is a big but brilliant move. What is it about our city that you love?
Tennille Burt: I love Melbourne’s creative energy. There is a vibrancy and excitement about the city which is really intoxicating. And it goes without saying, the fashion and food.
What is one mantra or quote that you live by?
Tennille: One of my favourites (and particularly relevant right now) is ‘Don’t Die Wondering’ – this lifetime is only short, so if you get a chance, take it – if it changes your life, let it.
What is one read that you had difficulty putting down?
Tennille: The September Issues of all magazines! I still love the indulgence and inspiration of an afternoon spent with my favourite mags.
It’s true to say that the Festival team is partly powered by caffeine! For our readers that will have the pleasure of meeting you in the coming weeks, what is your coffee order?
Tennille: A Flat White with Honey – sounds strange I know, but it’s better for you than sugar!
What makes you most excited about commencing your role and your Festival journey?
Tennille: As we approach our 20th Festival, with a fantastic new location at the Melbourne Museum Precinct, it is the opportunity to bring our partners brand stories to life via fashion, with scale and strong ROI that excites me most about this journey – it really is my dream role!
